The NZRIS is a professional society started to advance the translation and interpreting professions and promote the professional development of translators and interpreters in New Zealand and the APEC Region.
Our members have embraced the Translation and Interpreting profession cooperating locally and internationally with other translators, interpreters, teachers, project managers, web and software developers, language company owners, corporations, hospitals, universities, and government agencies, facilitating the communication people and organizations in the APEC Region.
We understand Translation to be the transference of a message and or text from a source language to a target language, while Interpreting is a specific form of Translation where the message or text in transferred from a source language to a target language in a one time presentation, either Simultaneous or Consecutive.
Our Society's name refers to "Interpreter" as the specific form of Translation, notwithstanding that the Complete Translation and Interpreting Profession are comprehended in our Society.
